Why we bothered joining
Cleaning is an easy trade to enter and a hard one to do well. There is no licensing barrier between a serious commercial contractor and someone with a van and a machine, which makes it genuinely difficult for a building manager to tell them apart from a quote. Membership is one of the few external signals available, alongside insurance, references and the work itself.
If you are evaluating cleaning contractors, ask each of them what training their staff get and who provides it. The answers vary more than you would expect.
